BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION WEEK AHEADTOP TIDBITS

  1. Today, Vice President Harris will announce resources for Historically Black Colleges and Universities that have recently experienced bomb threats. Read the full fact sheet HERE.

It’s been less than a week since the House of Representatives passed the omnibus spending package – which contained critical funding for local communities across the country and aid for Ukraine –  and House Republicans are already out in full force trying to claim credit for the same projects they went on the record to vote against. Read more from the DNC War Room HERE

Yesterday, the Biden-Harris administration announced new actions to promote women's employment and support working families across the country.  The Vice President also led an Equal Pay Day Summit, which was hosted by the Gender Policy Council. The Summit brought together partners across the country who are taking critical steps to tackle pay discrimination, create good-paying jobs, and support families’ access to care.

DNC War Room: FACT CHECK: Republicans Are Lying About Gas Prices

@DNCWarRoom: .@Mike_Pence thinks we should handle Ukraine the same way the Trump-Pence administration did. Does that mean withholding military aid from Ukraine like Trump did? Or undermining NATO and enabling Putin? No thanks. [VIDEO]

Not only has Infrastructure Week finally arrived, but we’re talking about an infrastructure decade. Folks, we’ve already authorized 4,000 projects all across the country—including 1,500 bridges in disrepair—and they’re starting repairs this year. @JoeBiden (Twitter),

ARTICLES TO AMPLIFYCNN: Biden demands faster drop in gas prices as oil tumbles

The Washington Post: The truth about gas prices and oil production

Slate: Republicans say the White House is responsible for high gas prices. That’s ridiculous.

Axios: White House unveils funding for HBCUs after bomb threats
TOP TWEETS@POTUS: One year ago today, eight people, six of whom were women of Asian descent, were tragically murdered by a gunman who targeted three separate Asian-run businesses. As we honor the victims, we must work to build a future where no one fears violence.

@POTUS: Oil prices are decreasing, gas prices should too. Last time oil was $96 a barrel, gas was $3.62 a gallon. Now it’s $4.31. Oil and gas companies shouldn’t pad their profits at the expense of hardworking Americans. [CHART]

@VP: We’re long overdue in the fight to close the wage gap for women in our nation. Thank you to the women of @USWNT for joining me at the White House for Equal Pay Day and for never giving up—on and off the field. [PHOTO]

@JoeBiden: The Bipartisan Government Funding Bill includes $13.6B to address Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the impact on surrounding countries. Putin's aggression against Ukraine has united people across America, united our two parties in Congress, and united the freedom-loving world.
TALKING POINTS 1. Today’s Republican Party

  • One year ago last week, President Biden and Democrats used their majority to pass the American Rescue Plan into law, helping get over 200 million Americans vaccinated, cutting health insurance premiums and taxes for families, providing funding to reopen schools, and helping small businesses.

  • Meanwhile, the Republican Party has spent the last few weeks telling voters exactly what they would do if they take power in November:

    • Last week, Republican Senator Ron Johnson confirmed that Republicans still want to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That would mean that:

      • More than 100 million Americans with preexisting conditions could lose insurance protections.

Americans with private insurance could see their premiums skyrocket.

Women could be charged more for their insurance.

Health insurance premiums could massively spike.

And, 21 million Americans could lose their insurance.

  • And Republicans have united behind Florida Senator and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Rick Scott’s plan to raise taxes on over half of Americans. One analysis found that Senator Scott’s plan would disproportionately fall on people making less than $100,000.

This is why Mitch McConnell desperately wanted to keep the Republican agenda hidden - a Republican majority would be devastating for Americans.

The choice could not be more clear: Senate Republicans’ economic agenda is taking away health care from middle-class Americans, raising premiums, and hiking taxes on half of the country. President Biden and Democrats are focused on the steps he laid out in the State of the Union to lower costs for Americans: manufacture more in America, break up supply chain bottlenecks that are raising prices, promote competition, and reduce health care costs like prescription drugs.
