[Jamie Harrison]: Update on DNC Party Officer Forums

Dear DNC Member,

We hope you’ve had a good start of the New Year.

On Monday, we learned that the National Day of Mourning for President Jimmy Carter was scheduled to take place on January 9th, which was the date we initially shared with you for the first in-person forum in Detroit. As soon as possible, we informed you that our offices were working to shift these logistics.

DNC staff have been working around the clock to make the adjustments necessary to accommodate this important time of reflection for Americans in honoring President Carter’s incredible legacy while also maintaining a robust schedule of engagement opportunities with officer candidates for DNC members and Democrats, and the logistics of our in-person partners. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these changes.

To that end, we have moved the in-person Midwestern forum to Thursday, January 16 in Detroit and will now host a virtual forum on Saturday, January 11 with members of the Southern region.

The in-person forum on January 16 will occur at The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, 1114 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226. Timing is dependent on the number of qualified candidates- therefore, if you plan on attending, please plan to arrive the morning of January 16 and depart after 10 PM ET on Thursday, January 16. While we are unable to provide a room block, we encourage you to book a unionized hotel - you can find unionized hotels on FairHotel.org.

Candidates will be informed of their qualifications on a rolling basis and the full list of qualified and participating candidates will be shared publicly ahead of the forum.

All questions for each forum will be selected by an impartial moderator, who will conduct the forum with your questions, those of the audience and questions they generate themselves– the DNC will not be guiding or instructing the question selection. Should you have questions you would like to submit for the moderator, please do so through this form

Thank you,

Jaime Harrison
