Monday, August 12, 2024 DAILY TALKING POINTS Vice President Harris and Governor Walz Barnstorm the Battlegrounds It’s been just shy of one week since Vice President Harris announced Governor Walz as her running mate, and already the newly minted Democratic ticket has been hard at work hitting the road on a battleground states tour, bringing their positive vision for a brighter future directly to the voters who will decide this election. From the Blue Wall to the Southwest, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz’s debut battleground state tour was defined by joy and enthusiasm as they rallied historic support and energized voters in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada. And while tens of thousands of fired-up supporters showed up from Philly to Eau Claire, Detroit, Glendale, and Las Vegas, grassroots support poured in online – in just the first 24 hours with Governor Walz on the ticket, Team Harris-Walz raised a historic and grassroots-powered $36 million. At each stop, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz turned that surging grassroots enthusiasm into action that will make a real difference come November – picking up thousands of new volunteer shifts, including 3,000 in Arizona and 4,300 in Nevada – from supporters who are ready to make the case to their communities about voting in this election. Team Harris-Walz has also experienced an enormous outpouring of support and praise from Democratic elected officials, Republicans, independents, business and labor leaders – delivering tangible organizing prowess and hundreds of millions of dollars. Additionally, Team Harris-Walz launched a slate of new TV ads, including an ad that highlights Vice President Harris’ middle-class roots, an ad touting her fight to secure the border, and the campaign’s first ad targeting Latino voters. While Team Harris-Walz is continuing to pick up momentum, Team Trump-Vance continues to flounder, and their campaign still lags far behind in infrastructure across the battleground states. There is no question this is going to be a close race – polls show it neck and neck – but Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have the right message and the momentum on their side, and they’re doing the work to win.
Nine Days Since Trump’s Last Swing State Event With less than three months until Election Day, Donald Trump is doing everything but talking to the voters who will decide this election – in fact, it’s been nine days since Donald Trump held a swing state event. Instead, Trump has been busy rage-posting about crowd sizes, attacking his own donors, trying to defend his close ties to Project 2025, and throwing his running mate JD Vance under the bus. He also said he’s open to banning abortion medication used to treat miscarriages and threatened to sue the New York Times after he confused two different Black men as the same person in a lie about a near helicopter crash. Meanwhile, Team Trump-Vance is still lagging far behind in infrastructure across the battleground states. The choice in this election is clear: Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a future where we strengthen our democracy, protect reproductive freedom, and ensure every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead. Donald Trump is a convicted criminal running to enact his extreme and dangerous Project 2025 agenda that would roll back Americans’ rights and freedoms, hurt the middle class, and threaten our democracy.
