Procedures for Virtual Roll Call

Dear Delegates, Thank you for participating in the ballot qualification portion of our virtual roll call process. As stated in the Permanent Procedural Rules of the Convention, Section C.4(c), the period for candidates for nomination to qualify remained open until 6:00 p.m. EDT on July 30, 2024. The period for nominating petitions has now closed, resulting in one candidate qualifying for the virtual roll call ballot: Vice President Kamala Harris. Pursuant to Section E.1(c) and Section E.1(e), Convention and DNC Chairs may open voting on the Democratic nomination for President of the United States on or after August 1, 2024, with at least 36 hours notice provided to the delegates before the first round of voting. Our rules also require that the deadline by which votes must be received be announced not later than the date on which the ballots are distributed. Please consider this your notice that the virtual roll call ballot will begin at 9:00 am ET on Thursday, August 1, 2024, marking the official beginning of the 2024 Convention. Ballots will be sent to delegates on a rolling basis beginning at 9:00 am ET. Ballots must be returned by 6:00 PM ET on Monday, August 5, 2024. Delegates will receive further instruction regarding how to complete their ballots. Our Party has met this unprecedented moment with a transparent, democratic, and orderly process to unite behind a nominee with a proven record who will lead us in the fight ahead. We appreciate you participating in this important process, and we look forward to celebrating together with all of our delegates in Chicago, where we will show up in full force as a strong, united Party, laser-focused on defeating Donald Trump and JD Vance in November.
