As my tenure comes to a close, the DNC is ready for the fight ahead [Message from Chair Harrison]
Dear DNC Members, While this week is my last as your Chair, I will always remain committed to the success and strength of this party. It has been a pleasure to see and speak with so many of you in person at the DNC Winter Meeting, and of the many important conversations we’ve had are questions about the financial state of the party. It is critical that we are in a strong position to take on the fights ahead – from holding Trump accountable for the harm he will inflict on the American people to electing Democrats up and down the ballot. Tomorrow, the DNC will file our FEC report, and on it you will see that:
When I began to plan for the end of my tenure as Chair, one of my guiding principles was to leave the party better than when I found it. I knew that a chief responsibility in this transition was to ensure the next generation of DNC leadership inherited a fiscally healthy organization. We had to engage in painstaking planning, and make very tough decisions, to meet that commitment. And we did. I want to be clear: our financial health is strong, but as any candidate for this office knows, ongoing fundraising is critical to keeping the party in fighting shape. The party is entering a more challenging resource environment in the months ahead, and I am confident in our ability to meet this moment and deliver the resources that Democrats need to win. Together in this fight, Jaime Harrison |
