  2. The DNC is launching a Defend Choice Week of Action that will run from July 12-19 to mobilize supporters and engage voters across the country to call out Republicans for opposing abortion rights, highlight what is at stake in November, and organize in all 50 states to elect Democrats up and down the ballot as the backstop to protecting abortion rights.

Help uplift the Defend Choice Week of Action HERE.

DNC War Room: Republicans Running on Cutting Social Security and Medicare

@DNCWarRoom: What are congressional Republicans running on this November? They’ve put out a whole new plan to cut Social Security and Medicare. That’s the MAGA agenda.

MESSAGE TO MOBILIZE

Please amplify some of our top content from DNC channels below:

Lindsey Graham, the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, suggested a Republican Senate majority could go after Social Security and Medicare if they win power in November. @TheDemocrats (Twitter)

The Senate just confirmed President @JoeBiden’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives—the first time in seven years the ATF has had a Senate-confirmed director.  This is a major step forward in the work to keep Americans safe from gun violence. @TheDemocrats (Twitter), (Facebook)

Why is Mitch McConnell siding with China by threatening to block a bill that would bring manufacturing jobs home and make the U.S. more competitive? @TheDemocrats (Twitter), (Facebook)

Thanks to President @JoeBiden’s leadership, we now have a law that will help protect communities around our nation from gun violence. @KamalaHarris (Twitter), (Facebook)

The Associated Press: DNC ads warn voters that GOP wants nationwide abortion ban

Bloomberg's Matthew Winkler: Inflation Alarm Bells Are Actually Getting Softer

TOP TWEETS

@POTUS: Today’s report is a reminder that inflation is too high – fighting inflation is my top economic priority. And while the numbers today are not acceptable, they are also outdated.
In the past 30 days, the average price of gas has dropped by 40 cents a gallon. [THREAD]

@BrianDeeseNEC: While today’s report shows unacceptably high inflation, energy made up 1/2 of the mthly increase & the report is backward looking: gas prices are down $0.40, which is not fully reflected.
Underscores how urgent it is for Congress to pass legislation to lower costs & the deficit. [CHART]

@TheDemocrats: If they win power, Republicans could impose cruel new laws that could punish people seeking abortions and doctors who provide them.
We're fighting back.

TALKING POINTS

  1. MAGA Republicans Block Plans to Lower Costs for Americans

  • At a time when Americans need help, MAGA Republicans are standing in the way of President Biden and Democrats’ plans to lower costs for Americans.

  • Every single Republican voted against the American Rescue Plan last March which was critical to lowering health care costs, boosted ACA subsidies, and helped get millions of Americans back to work.

  • Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are currently holding hostage legislation that will bring manufacturing jobs back from China and strengthen supply chains.

  • Every single Republican voted against holding oil and gas companies accountable from price gouging, as these companies rake in historic profits at the expense of struggling families.

  • Republicans like Chuck Grassley have admitted the best chance to deliver on lowering prescription drug prices is with Democrats in power because Republicans are simply not interested in helping American families.

  • On top of that, Republicans have promised that if they regain power they could try to RAISE costs on families by cutting Social Security and Medicare while making Trump’s tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy PERMANENT.

  • Make no mistake about it – while Democrats are working to lower costs, Republicans are actively cheering rising costs on struggling families as a political “gold mine.”

  1. June Inflation Data

  • President Biden was clear: today’s backward-looking inflation data is unacceptably high. That’s due to the fact that energy alone comprised nearly HALF of the monthly increase in inflation.

  • But today’s data doesn’t reflect that the price of gas has decreased for 30 days in a row, and the price at the pump has gone down by about 40 cents since mid-June.

  • Gas prices should continue to decrease in the days and weeks ahead. Oil has decreased 20% since mid-June but the price at the pump has only fallen half as much. American families should not be the first to pay and last to benefit.

  • Importantly, today’s report shows that what economists call “core inflation” – excluding energy and food costs – came down for the third month in a row. This is the first month since last year when the annual “core” inflation rate is below six percent. That’s progress.

  • Tackling inflation is the president’s top priority – and we need to make more progress, more quickly, in getting price increases under control.

  • Congress must pass legislation this month to reduce the cost of everyday expenses that are hitting American families, from prescription drugs to utility bills to health insurance premiums.

  • Leader McConnell is holding hostage a bill to make more in America and lower costs for families to protect the profits of Big Pharma. He’s wrong. We should get both of these bills done this month to lower costs and tackle inflation.

  • Congressional Republicans are proposing to make things worse and have put forward plans that could raise taxes on working people and put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block every five years.

  • Prices are too high for American families – the president and congressional Democrats’ bills will give families more breathing room and reduce the deficit. Congressional Republicans must stop standing in the way to protect corporate profits.
