Chapter Delegates

Chapter Delegates Representation

A variation on the McQueen Delegate Plan but with delegates distributed out to Chapter Chairs for Chapters having more than 200 members, or 20% of total country membership for countries over 1000 members.

The proposed numbers are just placeholders and should be further discussed and matched up with real-world scenarios to see how they would work with our current Country Chapters. The main idea is to engage the local chapters – many of which are much larger than some Country Committees – and to give them an opportunity to participate directly in the DPCA process and decision making.

Pros

  • creating local on-the-ground representation for more of our members
  • recognizing and validating the direct voter registration and member interaction of local chapters

Cons

  • thresholds for defining qualifying chapters need to be reviewed
  • need to make sure this works as an incentive to greater participation, and not a fragmentation of the organization
