Women's March Anniversary Event Ideas
How will your group be commemorating the Women's March on the weekend of January 20-21, 2018?
Even if your group doesn't actually march, there are many ways to do a successful anniversary event.
Take a look at the following ideas from women's caucus groups around the world for inspiration:
An Activist Faire is being planned by the London Women's Caucus and DAUK. They have generously offered to share the following ideas in the hope that they might be useful for all of us:
The Faire will be March- themed:
- tables labelled with signs similar to the ones at the march
- Leaflet to everyone when they come in with what booths there are and a timeline for the day. Laid out like a route map from Today until the Elections
- Committees and Caucuses across DAUK will be asked if they would like to set up a booth at the event to promote membership. They will be encouraged to have an activity that visitors can take part in as well.
- Vote from Abroad will attend in order to register people to vote.
- DAUK representatives will attend to register new members.
- Various education pieces from committees and caucuses will take place throughout the day along with entertainment and a slide show to promote activism and encourage member participation.
- Podcast team will be present to capture enthusiasm and possibly livestream the event.
- Promotional ideas include:
- Social media through posts on current platforms

- Time it, See who can get it done fastest. Prizes? Film it!
- How about a "50-states potluck" where everyone brings a dish that has some connection to their state?
- Make skill-building workshops on voter registration, phone banking part of your event.
- A candidate "show and tell" where anyone can prepare a blurb about a candidate in their state. "Perhaps your group could Adopt-a-candidate"?
- Plan a "teach-in" or discussion on any of the many issues we care about.
- Hold a mock election and have a Ballot Box for people to use.
- Our color is PINK! Encourage attendees to wear their pussy hats and wear pink.
- Have a "pussy hat workshop" and/or sign-making event before the big day.
