Running for Democracy

DA member Nancy in Germany has organized a Fundraising Run (or a rundraiser). This is a great way to make DA more visible locally.  She is looking for other running enthusiasts to partner up with. According to Nancy, "it would be great to have different places host it each year, and just keep the same theme."

Nancy set the date, found some runners, and set up a a donation Google Form and asked US citizens to donate or sponsor runners.

After the run, emails were sent out to all the sponsors to tell them more about the run and the runner that they sponsored (and to remind them to transfer their donations). The 2018 event raised nearly $800.

Event Tips

• If people outside your country want to donate, make sure you don't have bank transfer issues at the international level

• Keep it Fun: Nancy mentioned the 2019 race in Germany will be in Manhheim because it is much flatter than Heidelberg!

• The DPCA will be happy to help coordinate your fundraisers. If the fundraising efforts go in part to our international organization, people can use their credit cards to donate on DA's website, making it easier to bring a local event to the international level.

• As with any DA fundraiser, only American citizens can donate.
