Problem

When an Windows XP user is trying to join a WebEx meeting they encounter an error 104 and the attempt to join fails.  Usually Error 104 signifies that the installation of Meeting Center has not been successful

(note: Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and WebEx (officially).  It is suggested that the user upgrade to a minimum of Windows Vista.  (Byron's note: I recommend a minimum of Windows 7)

Solution

  1. Click on the link below, it will download a zip file
    1. Note: running this tool will remove 100% of your current WebEx Meeting Center installation files
    2. http://support.webex.com/supportutilities/WBXRemoveTool.zip
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Run it
  4.  Restart your computer
  5. Now try joining a WebEx meeting

If unsuccessful, see "temporary" option below

The 104 error message may be accompanied by an option to use a "temporary" file to continue. In most cases this option will work for the current attempt only.

  1. Click on the "temporary file" link
  2. Download the file
  3. Run it
  4. If it works, the user will be connected to the meeting
