2026 Spring DNC Meeting Summary

2026 Spring DNC Meeting Summary

Dear DNC Member,

It was wonderful to see so many of you in New Orleans for our 2026 Spring DNC Meeting.

As we do after all of our DNC meetings, we have prepared a brief report summarizing the business conducted and the activities that took place over our time together. We hope this information is helpful to you in your ongoing work on behalf of the Democratic Party as a DNC member.

The Democratic National Committee met from April 9–11, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Credentials Committee, Resolutions Committee, and the Rules and Bylaws Committee convened on Thursday, April 9, and the Budget Oversight and Review Committee met on Friday, April 10, to consider a range of party business. The reports and recommendations from these committees were subsequently presented to the full membership for consideration.

Throughout the week, the DNC’s Caucuses and Councils held engaging meetings to discuss priorities and work ahead. These meetings included discussions with invited speakers and elected officials, as well as strategic conversations focused on engaging their respective constituencies and supporting Democratic victories up and down the ballot.

The full DNC membership convened in General Session on Friday afternoon, where members heard remarks from inspiring speakers who highlighted the importance of our work leading into the 2026 elections. During the General Session, speakers included Representative Troy Carter, who provided a warm welcome to Louisiana, and Representative Jason Crow, who spoke about the importance of standing up for what's right. Members also heard from New York Attorney General Letitia James and Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones, who highlighted the work they are doing to push back against the harmful programs and initiatives coming from the Trump administration right now.

At the General Session, former New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial spoke about the importance of turning out Black and Southern voters in 2026 and ahead. We were also joined by social media influencer Carlos Espina who reminded us of the reasons why we do this work and to discuss the growing influence of content creators online. The speaking program concluded with energizing remarks from Young Democrats of America President Fatima Heyward who highlighted the importance of the youth vote. In addition, among the highlights was a very moving tribute to the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson.

During the General Session, members also approved the Report of the Credentials Committee, the Report of the Rules and Bylaws Committee, and the Report of the Resolutions Committee. For those unable to join us, you can watch the General Session on the DNC’s YouTube page here.

The DNC Executive Committee met on Saturday morning, where they kicked off the meeting with remarks from New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno and former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. During the meeting, Members also heard brief remarks from Congressman Troy Carter. To close out the meeting, Members listened to a presentation from DNC Voter Protection Director Herly Rosemond on the DNC’s current voter protection efforts. You can find the slide deck from Herly’s presentation here, along with a social media toolkit and a brief video about the Louisiana v. Callais case.

I am deeply grateful to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to join us in New Orleans. Over the course of the meeting, including Caucus and Council meetings, Standing Committee meetings, trainings, and General Sessions, a total of 36 meetings and trainings took place. We are thankful to have been supported by 136 volunteers who collectively filled 213 volunteer shifts throughout the weekend.

As we continue to refine and improve our meetings, we welcome your feedback. We would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete the post-meeting survey and share your thoughts as we prepare for our upcoming meetings. Additionally, if you have questions or feedback about the DNC Trainings, you can reach out to training@dnc.org.

I look forward to connecting again at our next DNC Meeting, which will be held in Austin, Texas, from August 13 - 15, 2026. Additional information regarding hotel reservations and booking details will be shared in the near future.
