Objective

The goal is to show state legislature members that their constituents and other Americans living outside the US care about the Equal Rights Amendment being ratified.

Priorities

The first priority state is Virginia.  The next two are Arizona and North Carolina.   The other 10 states are as of now equal priority. 

The top priority people, if known, will be in bold on the address list for the Senate and House.  In general it is the leader of each or the leader of the committee holding the ERA resolution, if one, is in play.

Postcard

It might get more attention sending a postcard with a photo from your country.   However, there are also ERA postcards that can be used.   Here’s a link for some free ones to download and print - https://www.equalrightsamendment.org/toolkit.

Addresses

The addresses for all the state legislature members can be found on the wiki - https://wiki.democratsabroad.org/display/ERA/ERA+State+Information+and+Contacts.

When addressing them, be sure to use Senator, Representative, or Honorable as a prefix to the full name.   Don’t forget to add USA to the address!

Signature

Here’s the recommended signature if you are from the state where you are sending:

Text for Postcard

Depending on how large you write or if you print the postcard, here are some sample messages for the postcard.

• Make {state name} #38 to ratify ERA
• 85% of the countries in the world have equal rights for women in their constitution.   I hope you will help USA become part of that list.  Please vote to ratify the ERA in {state name}.
• Ratify ERA Now
• Time for ERA is Now
• Women deserve equal rights.  Vote for ERA.
• 37 states have ratified the ERA.  The latest was Illinois in May 2018.  It would be great if {state name} became #38.  Please vote to ratify the ERA.
• Women deserve equal rights guaranteed in the US Constitution.   Please vote to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in {state name}.
